For keeping Shimla Municipal Corporation out of Smart Citi flagship program of central government its top office bearers have accused State Urban Development Minister Mr. Sudhir Kumar Sharma for discriminating other parts of the township and being partisan with the state capital town.
Both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor Shimla have expressed great shock at the statement of the State Minister (Urban Development) Himachal Pradesh who has virtually metamorphosised his role as a Pradhan (President) of Dharamshala Municipal Committee.
Instead of functioning as the minister of the state and overall monitoring urbanizations and developing the department, the minister is too focused on his native constituency, where he is working against the wishes of the people of Dharamshala itself.
The minister in utter partisan manner has acted with a bias and it is at his behest that the department fudged the data for smart cities and has even played foul in the entire conduct.
The Mayor of Shimla should have been invited for the state meeting to approve smart cities, but he was not even informed. Now the matter is in the High Court.
There is extreme callousness on the part of his department, which was primarily responsible for the loss of projects, especially the water project which kept on swinging from HIMUDA to PPP and then EPC and the government could never take a call on that.
The bogey of smart city game plan too has not helped the minister, as people of Dharamshala have strongly condemned and many Panchayats have resolved to not be a part of Municipal Corporation, Dharamshala.
