The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) today to provide CNG-fitted buses to Himachal Pradesh Transport Corporation (HRTC) to have a pollution free transport services from Manali to Rohtang Pass.

Senior Counsel for the state and Additional Advocate General Suryanarayan Singh said that NGT has directed the DMRC today to provide CNG-fitted buses to HRTC for running them on Rohtang region.

The matter was listed before the principal bench comprising Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar and members Justice U.D Salvi, Dr. Devendra Kumar Aggarwal, Prof A. R Yousuf and Ranjan Chatterjee.

Only three weeks ago the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had relaxed the ban partially on plying vehicles to Rohtang. Earlier, the DMRC had stated that though they had shortage of buses but, for trial basis, they could provide two buses to Himachal Pradesh at the nominal rate of Rupees 70,000 per vehicle for 7 days, that would amount to Rupees 10,000 per day per vehicle and, for a month of trial, it would cost around Rupees 3 lakhs and not Rupees 40 lakhs as was projected by the state.
