The monsoon session of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine-die after transacting business for seven days here today.
Speaker Mr. Brij Behari Lal Butail announced to adjourn the House sine die in the absence of opposition members who staged walk out during the question hours on the incident of scuffle between members of opposition and treasury benches that occurred on friday.
Mr. Butail also expressed gratitude to the members of the House for their cooperation in ensuring smooth conduct of the assembly proceedings. Speaking at the conclusion of the budget session here this afternoon, he thanked all members of the assembly, officials and media, for helping in smooth functioning and adequate coverage to the assembly proceedings.
He also appreciated the efforts put in by the staff of the assembly Secretariat during the session for preparing replies as well as responses to questions of the members. He expressed gratitude to all the departments who were associated with the proceedings of the house during the entire session. And giving details of the business conducted during the session, he said the session consisted of seven working days consuming.
Mr. Butail also confirmed that eight bills were introduced, discussed and passed during the session and twenty-nine annual reports and reports of different committees of Vidhan Sabha committee were also presented on floor of the house.
Mr. Butial said that during the session a total of 317 star and 126 un- starred questions were raised and replied during the session. Along with these four private members bills were taken up for discussion in the house under Rule 101 and two were deferred for next session. Under Rule 102, the state government brought a resolution and passed it to help the marginal and small farmers who were being evicted under encroachment drive. Under Rule 324, the call attention motion, three issues under Rule 130, were received and replied by the government where as under Rule 62 two issues were taken up, he said.
Earlier, Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh spoke on the concluding day of the session and appreciated the Speaker for smoothly conducting the proceeding of the house. Mr. Singh said that by and large the media gave fair coverage of proceedings and he also complimented the officials of the Secretariat and government for making the session a success.
