Himachal Pradesh to introduce microchip scheme to check stray animal menace

Himachal Pradesh Government is mooting out a scheme to check the stray animal menace after introducing a microchip scheme in the state.

Chief Minsiter Mr. Virbhadra Singh who intervened to this matter during the question hour in the assembly said that the scheme is under consideration of the government to insert microchip that would have all the details of the animal owner. He also said that if any animal becomes stray after inserting the microchip then in that case the state officials would find out all the details of its owner by whom it was discarded.

Mr.Singh said that state would order its official to find out why the number of stray animals is suddenly increasing up in the state. He also said that government would also check the fact that stray animals are being brought here from other states.

He added that there are complaints from the concerned of member of house that stray animals were being dropped in the state from Punjab and Haryana to be probed.

Chief minister said that today people are discarding their cattle as they become uneconomical for them and however the state would not starve the Gram Panchayats with lack of funds to build Goasadans in the state.

Earlier replying to a query Mr. Anil Sharma, the Minister of Animal Husbandry said that state was considering to bring new policy to manage stray animal menace and for that the State High Court has already intervened in the matter. Congress members alleged that the number of stray animal is rising in the state and however efforts should be done to identify the owner of stray animal who are discarding them.
