Himachal Pradesh Police is keeping a strict vigil along militancy inflicted Jammu and Kashmir borders to avert any misdemeanor of terrorists to infiltrate inside the this hill state.
A press release issued by Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Director General of Police today said that in order to discuss or review the border situation, an interstate coordination meeting under the Chairmanship of Inspector General of Police Northern Range, Dharmshala with the police authorities of Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab was organized at Dalhousie on July 10, 2015.
Responding to media reports about alleged infiltration by 64 terrorists the DGP said that to deter the incidents of infiltration of terrorists, 12 outstation check posts (OCP’s) have been established on the border areas of Chamba district.He also said that police force has been deployed there to keep a constant vigil on movements and activities of people who come across the border.
In addition to the above, 466 Security Police Officers (SPO’s) and 749 village Defense Committee Members are rendering their valuable services on the bordering area. CCTV cameras have also been installed on BCS (Border Check Stations) Sansarinala and BCS Sewa Birdge to record the movements of people passing through these route. Several steps have been taken to prevent ingress of any unwanted elements in the state.
A record of laborers and outsiders who ouster, Chamba district for work with contracts is maintained properly in all police stations of the districts. Verifications of all such people is also being conducted from their residential addresses. It is worthwhile to mention here that 35 laborers were shot down by militants in Surkundi village of Chamba in the year 1998 after infiltration of terrorists.
