Himachal Pradesh High Court today settled about one dozen road claims from the year 2007 to 2008 after awarding compensation amount of about Rupees 33.40 lakh to the next of deceased and victims.
To overcome the pendency of such claims that have come before the bench on the decision of road accidents tribunals, Chief Justice Mr. Mansor Ahmed Mir decided 12 appeals of road claims that were lying pending before the bench after ordering the concerned parties to award claims to the affected parties.
Himachal Pradesh figures among the top of those states where road accident is the biggest killer owing to its hard topography and worst road conditions. Frequent road accidents attribute to the number of road claims cases in most of courts for which high court has fixed a special day to dispose of such matter expeditiously.
