Himachal Pradesh Medical Officers Association today lashed the state government for adopting dictatorial attitude as certain notifications released by it shocked them.
Joint statement issued by President and General secretary of Himachal Medical Officer Association Dr. Sant Lal Sharma and Dr. Jiwanand Chauhan alleged that notifications are likely to affect health services in the state, which is already suffering a lot due to some political interferences in various cadres from top to bottom.
“The association showed a strong resentment over notification issued on 26th May, 2015 regarding postings of Ayurvedic Medical Officers at Civil Hospital and Regional Hospital to work in the departments of Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology including OPD and indoor. Intermingling of both types of services would be disastrous to the patient as the method adopted in treatment by both are totally different. If state government is so keen to impart benefits to all the patients it should strengthen the Ayurvedic institutions in terms of infrastructure, man power and the Ayurvedic drugs” says MOA.
The association also alleged that postings of Ayurvedic Medical Officer would create chaos and idea of efficient delivery of service will not be fulfilled. Medical officers said that instead of merging the cadre, state should train them on the institutional level providing specialty services and emergency services in the existing infrastructure. They also showed resentment regarding another notification issued on 15th June 2015 regarding sanctioning of a leave to Medical Officer at secretariat level and regarding notification and assigning of duty of Food Safety Officer to Medical Officers.
MOA alleged that interference in the functioning would mar the morals of the officers who are working with dedication and in turn it would affect health services in the state. Seeking to withdraw above action they warned that by issuing of above notifications seems that the government is instigating the Medical Officers to go on a strike as there is severe anger among them.
