HPMC inks MOU with Baba Ramdev

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, Haridwar, for sale and purchase of apple juice concentrate and other products, initially for a period of two years. The MOU was signed in presence of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, Swami Ramdev and horticulture minister Narender Bragta.

Madan Chauhan, executive director, HPMC, and CL Kamal, president, Foods Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. Haridwar, signed the MOU. HPMC produces around 500-1000MTs of apple juice concentrate annually depending upon the crop. Entering into business relations with Patanjali Ayurved Ltd for the sale of apple juice concentrate and other products will offer the state PSU a bulk buyer.

Initially, the agreement is being entered into for a period of two years wherein HPMC and PAL have mutually agreed to supply/purchase of minimum 350 MTS and maximum 700 MTs juice concentrate per annum besides other products produced by the Corporation. This will give huge boost to the sale of HPMC Apple Juice Concentrate as the same will be marketed by PAL through their sale network in the country. Officials claimed the arrangement with Patanjali Ayurved Ltd is a benefiting reply to the low-cost Chinese apple concentrate which is available and is being dumped into Indian market on a large scale.

Under the agreement, the production of apple processing plant, proposed to be set up in the apple belt at Gumma (Kotkhai) will also be supplied to Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. which will benefit the growers of the state.
