State unit of Congress party on Saturday criticized Prime Minister Narender Modi’s led government for hike in the prices of petrol and diesel.

Mr. Naresh Chauhan, Party State Spokesperson said that this is second such hike in the last week and would put additional burden on consumers who are already facing tough times due to price rise.

“He said that during Lok Sabha elections, Modi had promised to bring down inflation in the country by reducing the prices of petroleum products but Modi’s led government has increased the prices of petrol and diesel twice in the past two weeks” said Naresh Chauhan.

Mr Chauhan said that earlier also, Modi’s government denied relief to the general public by increasing import duty on crude oil when the prices in the international market were low. He has demanded that Modi’s government should rollback 5% hike in import duty on crude oil to provide relief to the people of India.
