Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh today launched Pradhanmantri Suraksha Bima Yojna, Pradhanmantri Jeevan Joyti Yojna and Atal Pension Yojna in the state.
Prime Minister Mr. Narendar Modi from Calcutta also launched these schemes today for 115 cities of the country.
Union Health Minister Mr. J.P Nadda was also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that these schemes would be effective for achieving target of financial inclusion. He said that effective measures had been adopted for financial inclusion by effective implementation of Jan Dhan Yojna last year. He also said that about 8.50 lakh new bank accounts were opened in the state, which has ensured at least one bank account of each household. He said that earlier there were no banks in rural areas and industrial houses were running the financial institutions and banks.
“It was due to the efforts of late Prime Minister Ms.. Indira Gandhi that banks became Nationalised and today we all were fortunate enough for having banking facilities penetrating in the rural areas of the country” he said. Praising the centre to launch such ambitious financial schemes Mr. Singh said that it would push the Indian economy by financial inclusion of the people in 115 cities of the Country and Himachal is one of the states where this scheme is launched today.
Chief Minister said that the schemes besides giving insurance to the workers in unorganized sectors would also give them pensions so that they could lead a respectable life. He reiterated that similar contributory pension scheme was launched by the Government of India under the name ‘Swablamban Scheme’ in the year 2010.
