Shimla: The 11th edition of Raid-de-Himalaya rally was flagged off by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today. The rally will see 210 participants, including eight women driving along some of the most difficult terrains in the Himalayas. The 2,000-km rally will end in Srinagar on October 13 as this year the organisers added the sixth leg from Leh to Srinagar.

The eight women include two physically challenged — wheelchair-borne Deepika Malik from Ahmadnagar in Maharashtra and Mumbai lady Nazneen Katrak who will drive with one arm.

Thirty-three teams are participating in the X-treme four-wheeler category, ten teams in the bikes X-treme category while 60 teams will participate in the adventure trial section, which is meant for the amateurs,
