Shimla: Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today demanded additional supplies of essentials from the Centre under the PDS to deal with drought conditions prevailing in the state.
Dhumal described HP as a food deficient state which depended heavily on supplies from outside and expressed disappointment over the Centre reducing quota of rations to the state.
Noting that the state’s farmers had missed three consecutive crops which had put them to hardships, he said the Centre should supply additional quota of essentials under the public distribution system to HP charging APL and BPL families uniformly as a compensatory measure.
