Cong alleges irregularities in distributing of free CFL bulbs

    Shimla: The ambitious energy conservation scheme launched by Himachal Pradesh government came under attaack from the Congress today with allegations being made regarding irregularities in distributing of free CFL bulbs. The party has allegd that illegal sale of CFL bulbs marked not for sale were available in the open market in neighbouring Punjab. Party spokesperson Mukesh Agnihotri alleged that the state electricity board was running huge losses due to such irregularities.

    The government had launched the ambitious energy saving scheme “Atal Bijli Bachat Yojna” named after former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee last year. Under the Rs 80 crore scheme, about 16 lakh households were provided a pack of four CFL bulbs free of cost.
