Kangra: Vivekananda Kendra, a spritually oriented service mission with its headquarters at Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, is holding a week-long residential Yoga camp from June 21 to 28 at the Jain Temple in  Old Kangra. According to the organisers, around 200 people between the age of 18 and 55 years from all over India are expected to participate in this residential yoga camp.

This camp will include study and practice of Yogasanas, relaxation methods, japa and other techniques of meditation, study of Yoga Darshana, Bhagwad Gita, Indian culture and life & message of great men and women of our country. According to the organisers, Bhajan Sandhyas on all days will be a special attraction for the participants. The camp aims at creating a secluded spiritual ambience among the youths and elders of the society.

Many Local people have also come up for the week-long yoga shivir. Mr Hem Raj Chandel, a retired teacher from Kangra, who is also participating in the camp, said, “For the first time in my life I will be staying away from my family for seven continuous days.” He added, “Such spiritually inclined programs drive people towards the absolute truth of life”.

According to the organisers, a similar Yoga shivir was organised at Sadhupul near Solan in Himachal Pradesh last year, which was attended by more than 100 participants.
