Solan: In a glaring incidence of corporeal punishments being given to the students in the schools of the state, the Solan police, on Friday night, have arrested three government teachers allegedly for tonsuring students as punishment.
According the FIR lodged in the Subathu police station by the parents of the 17 students of the Government Middle School Bharti, parents have alleged that three teachers of the schools, Dinesh Verma, Gurmail Singh and Lekh Ram had partially tonsured their kin as punishment for coming to school without taking bath.
It is learnt that before the parents lodged a complaint in the police, some of the parents, on Wednesday, had raised the issue before Panchayat of Bharti village. Following the complaint, the village Panchayat Pardhan had warned the teachers against such punishments and teachers too, had sought unconditional apology for the alleged act.
But even after this whole episode, the teachers on Friday, again harassed the same students and forced the students to take their clothes off.
The police have registered a case of assauliting the students with the intent to dishonour and criminal intimidation under Sections of 355,506,341 and 34 of the IPC.
