Tenzin Choezen is Miss Tibet 2009

Twenty year old Tenzin Choezom has won the Miss Tibet 2009 contest held at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts here on Sunday evening. Choezom, a local Tibetan girl, has passed her plus two examinations recently.

Ngawang Choying, eighteen year old student of plus two standards from Darjeeling and Dolkar, a 24-year old software engineer from Dehradun was declared first and second runner-ups, respectively.

Renowned industrialist and Chairman of the Spice Group of Industries, Dr B.D. Modi, crowned the new Miss Tibet and presented her a cheque of one lakh rupees. First runner up received Rs 50000 while the second runner up received the cash amounting to Rs 25000.

Natasha Medez, a dance instructor, Neelam Kanwar, a lecturer in Himachal Pradesh University, Ram Swaroop, former president of Indo-Tibetan Friendship Association and Thierry Dodin, Director of Tibet Infonet, was the members of the jury which decided the winners.
