Three more universities in Himachal

Shimla: Continuing with its policy to open up the education sector in the state, the Himachal Pradesh government has approved setting up of three more private universities in state. A letter of intent has been issued to Sree Sai College of Engineering & Technology, Badani; KD Education Trust, New Delhi and Gopi Bai Foundation Trust, Kota to open up educational institutes in the state.

Last year, the government had given the go ahead for Chitkara University in Kalu Jhanda near Barotiwala and Eternal University in Baru Sahib in district Sirmour. With this the number of proposed private universities under the Himachal Pradesh Private Universities Act (Establishment and Maintenance Act) 2006, has gone up to nine.

Centre for Advanced Studies in Engineering (of Delhi), Institute of Chartered Financial Analysis of India (ICFAI) and Amity are other private institutions coming up with educational institutes in the state.
