MP demands widening and electrifying of Kalka-Shimla world heritage railway line

Mr. Verinder Kashyap, Lok Sabha Member of Parliament today raised the issue of widening of Kalka-Shimla world heritage railway line and electrifying the rail routes for the purpose of tourist transportation.

During the zero hours in the Lok Sabha today he raised this issue stating that the coal engine is being plied on the route after declaring it world heritage occasionally but it often went out of order causing problem to the commuters.

He said that Railway should increase the frequency of trains on this route Built by the British this rail line needed to be repaired and widen as narrow gauge line can accommodate a low speed train and so it should be electrified to facilitate the tourists who enjoy its charm immensely.
