Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee on saturday termed the Union budget as directionless and BJP led NDA government has completely sidelined the hopes and aspirations of the common man of the country.

Naresh Chauhan, HPCC spokesperson said, “the Union Budget seems to be meant only for the corporate houses and the BJP government has ignored the interests of the general public of the country. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely has only made empty promises for the common man as the budget has ignored their interests and the decision to increase the service tax from 12.36% to 14% would only lead to price rise of essential commodities, thereby directly affecting the general public and hike in the education would also adversely affect the low income groups. The middle and lower income groups were hoping for increase in income tax slab but the central government did not offer any respite on this front. The budget is neither populist nor growth oriented as it has ignored the interests of the unemployed youth, farmers, women, small traders and working class by not announcing schemes for their welfare”.
