Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh has today confirmed that the Rajasthan Government does not look serious to solve rehabilitation of Pong Dam out sees however Himachal Government has always been considerate towards their demands.

Addressing a public meeting at Nagrota Surian in district Kangra today he said “ there has been a strong need to develop the Maharana Pratap Reservoir in the area to increase the economy of the people of the area. It is one of the largest manmade wetland of Northern India and is also a safe breeding centre for the birds. Despite the ruling of the apex court of the country, which mentions that it would be the obligation of the Rajasthan, Government to make available an equivalent extent of irrigable land to the out sees. But Rajasthan government has never been serious to solve the vexed issue and has shown its inability to re-locate the land to the pong dam out sees and remove the encroachers. The government in now not in a mood to have re-look on the issue as since then seventeen meetings of the high powered committee have already been held and nothing concrete is coming out of it which shows the lack of positive approach on part of the Rajasthan authorities to adhere to the tripartite agreement”.
