Fresh snow and rain lash in Himachal Pradesh

The queen of hills was wrapped up with snow as people came out for work in the morning after overnight overcast. Reports of rain are pouring here from rest of the state.

Metrological office has reported about 2.4 centimeters of snowfall till 8:30 today morning. Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded 13 cm snow and Keylong in Lahaul Spiti recorded about 3 cm snow. Rohtang Pass, the gateway of Lahaul Spiti has been experiencing snowfall since last night.

Tourist resort Narkanda and Kufri have also recorded 6 to 7 cm snowfall. Hindustan Tibet National Highway 22 has been opened for traffic as per the last report that reached Himvani. Earlier this highway that links Chopal area of the district was disrupted due to closing down of Khiraki after heavy snow in the region.

Solan recorded 13 mm of rain, Dharamsala recorded 12.8 mm, whereas Manali 20 mm and Bhunter airport has recorded 11.4 mm, rainfall respectively. Minimum temperature stayed under freezing point as Keylong recorded low at minus 2 degrees while Dalhousie and Kalpa remained freezing at minus 1 degree. Metrological department has warned people of heavy snow at many isolated parts of the hilly state and rain or snow at other parts during next 24 hours.
