Kangra valley continues to shiver under biting cold

The Dhauladhar mountain range experienced snowfall and the Kangra valley lashed with heavy rains today, leaving residents in the valley shivering down the spine.

The sky was overcast with clouds since morning, started raining in the afternoon and snowfall was experienced on the Dhauladhar mountain range dropping down the temperature considerably, forcing people to remain indoors in the later part of the day. The inclement weather after the afternoon rains which continued till this evening left the life out of gear.

McLeodganj, Bagsu Nag, Naddi and Dharamshala Cantonment areas also experienced rains and cold wave conditions today.

The school children were worst affected following the rains and shivering cold in the valley. The children drenching in rain and shivering in extreme cold were seen rushing back to their homes. The snowfall on Dhauladhar mountain range dropped down the mercury considerably. The reports of rain were also received from Jawalamukhi, Dehra, Haripur, Shahpur, Dhraman, Nagrota Bagwan, Icchhi, Gaggal, Mallan, Palampur, Ranital and Kangra town.

“The valley remained cut off through air connectivity with rest of the country today as the scheduled flight of Spice jet was cancelled due to bad weather in the valley.  He, however, said that air operations by Air India are being stopped till January 11, 2014” reported KK Sharma, Airport Director from Kangra.
