Shimla: Schools in Shimla have been known to produce famous personalities, but not many of them find time to visit their alma mater in the hills. Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari is an exception, who would visit St Edward’s School in Shimla on April 15 when he arrives here for a lecture at the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies the next day.
Vice-President Ansari would visit the school for the first time since 1951 when he left the place after studying here for two years. He is expected to spend a few hours at the school interacting with teachers and students.
Principal Father John Bosco said, “We all are looking forward to interact with the Vice-President, a moment that would go down in history of the school.” Ansari was enrolled in standard VI on June 3, 1949, and he left the school after passing out of standard VII. Their father MA Ansari was posted in Shimla as a superintendent of insurance under the central government services.
