HRTC to switch over pre-paid travel soon

Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) decided to switch over new pre-paid card system to make the travel cashless in the state.

Informing media persons about decisions taken by Board of Directors meeting of HRTC and Bus Adaa Management Committee held at Shimla on Thursday, Transport Minister G.S. Bali said that pre-paid card system would be introduced in HRTC buses for journey as counters would come up in every bus depots to issue and recharge such cards soon.

He said that corporation was also considering to involve bank to issue such cards. The passengers who travel daily in HRTC services could swap their pre-paid cards as instruments would be installed in the buses or to be issued to conductors so that passengers could make cashless travel.

HRTC would soon add more than 300 new buses in its existing fleet of 2000 buses.
