Dry weather forecast for Himachal Pradesh

South-west monsoon was passing through weak phase in the north-western Himalayan region as Indian Meteorological Department forecasts mainly dry weather for next three days.

Dr. Manmohan Singh, Director of Met office Shimla told media that monsoon was confined to north-eastern states are currently in weak phase are likely to take atleast one week to become active again.

“Monsoon is not completely withdrawn from the region as it appear due to highly erractin condition of rainfall in north-western part of country but it was hoped that on first week of September it would become active again,” Mr. Singh said.

Since beginning of second fortnight of this month, monsoon abnormally turned weak, however, it was more or less normal reducing the deficit of rainfall between 25 to 30 percent as it was delayed.

Except Kheri in Kullu had 3 mm rainfall and Jogindernagar in Mandi 2 mm, rest of the state was mainly dry.

Minimum temperature of Keylong in Lahaul & Spiti was 9 degrees Celsius, Manali and Dalhousie 12 degrees and 15 degrees respectively and Chamba 19 degrees.

Dharamshala was low at 16 degrees, Una, Bilaspur and Hamirpur 22 degrees each, Nahan in Sirmaur district 18 degrees and Mandi 21 degrees.

Shimla town, Solan and Palampur in Kangra district were low at 17 degrees each, Kangra and Sundernagar in Mandi district 20 degrees each, Bhuntar in Kullu district and Chamba 19 degrees each and Kalpa in Kinnaur district 10 degrees.

The Met. office forecast mainly dry weather in next 24 hours.
