South-West monsoon enters Himachal Pradesh

South-West monsoon system entered in entire Himachal Pradesh early this morning with insistent rainfall.

Shimla Met Office In-charge Dr. Manmohan Singh told media that monsoon set on uniformly in entire state including neighboring states Uttaranchal and some parts of Jammu & Kashmir in last 24 hours.

He said that it is vigorously active in Shimla and surrounding area which recorded nearly 100 mm rain since yesterday.

This capital town have 95.5 mm rain till 0830 hours today, Shimla airport at Jubberhatti experienced 52 mm, Bilaspur 56 mm, Dharamshala 43 mm and tourist resort Manali 8 mm respectively.

Minimum temperature of Shimla, Manali and Dharamshala was 15 degrees Celsius, 13 degrees and 19.4 degrees respectively.

The insistent rain continue since last midnight, which affected the normal life in this capital town.

Movement of traffic is slow and thin after very heavy rainfall. Due to uprooting of some trees, power supply also got disrupted.

The Met office warned that rather heavy to very heavy rainfall could occur in many parts of the state. Monsoon would bring widespread rainfall in the state.
