Raj day town to host ‘Art Festival’

This Raj day town would host ‘Art Festival’ to celebrate great legacy of art recalling its international acclaim artists and great legends like Ravinder Nath Tagore, Gaginder Nath Tagore, Amrita Shergill, Satish Gujral, Shobha Singh, Ram Kumar etc.

Spelling out the motive of organizing this unique festival, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Dinesh Malhotra told media on Monday that open theatrical art performance would be held to give tribute to renown artists.

He said that more than 42 artists from the state and regions have been invited to show their performance of painting at vintage points like Daulat Singh park, Tavern hall of Gaiety theater in this town.

The event is to be replicate as annual permanent feature, which would be held from May 28 to 30, 2014.

District administration would provide logistic support to the painters who would perform in public, drawing natural and scenic beauty on the canvas which would be exhibited in the galleries of outer open theater and multipurpose hall of Gaiety theater Shimla.

The work of art would be owned by the district administration to display in various departments of the government later on. Tourists and amateur painters could take part in this event after applying for it on the spot.

The ‘Art Festival’ is divided into five categories comprising of sub-junior group, junior group, college group and professional group comprising of national level painters.
