A Chennai city resident who came on a holiday with friends to Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh, who is now feared dead after the SUV in which he was traveling fell into the Sutlej river on May 8.
An Aadhaar card, driver’s license and bags belonging to Magesh C, 21, have been found but there has been no trace of the youth or the SUV.
The bodies of two of the four, including the SUV’s driver, were recovered the same day. The condition of the fourth person, a girl who is now in a Shimla hospital, is said to be critical.
Magesh, a student of MEASI Academy of Architecture in Royapettah, was interning with Arya Architects in Ahmedabad and had gone on a holiday with friends from other states when the accident occurred. Himachal Pradesh police said that they are searching since May 8.
Though the Himachal police said the search operation would continue, Magesh’s family members claimed they had no information. “We were told police are winding up the search and we want you to ensure the operation continues until my son is found,” Magesh’s father D Chandran said in a letter to the state government which was released to the press on Saturday.
Magesh’s family and friends met the Chennai police commissioner over the incident and are liaising with the investigating team. “Police aren’t able to trace his calls as he was in a remote locality. We are trying to provide some information about him,” said Sindhuja J, his classmate.
The Himachal police have vowed to continue the search. Mr. Rakesh from Himachal police said that they will not stop until they will find the boy. They have been sending two teams each day to look for him and the car.
