Dust storm hits Himachal; Una pegged up at 42.2 degrees Celsius

Dust storm hit this hill state today evening as light speed winds blow with partly cloudy condition but no report of rain was reported from anywhere of the state.

Maximum temperature soared up in the state as Una was warmest at 42.3 degrees that of 40 degrees of yesterday. Sundernagar in Mandi district and Kangra at 36 degrees each, Nahan in Sirmaur district 35 degrees, Solan 33 degrees, Dharamshala in Kangra district 32 degrees, Bhuntar in Kullu district 31 degrees.

Tourist resort Manali and Shimla were at 27.5 degrees each and Kalpa in Kinnaur district 22 degrees, which is also highest in the season.

There is good news for the mountaineer and tourists as mighty Rohtang Pass has been thrown open for vehicular traffic today which is just 25 day ahead of last years as it opened on May 26, 2013.

Deputy Commissioner of Lahaul & Spiti said that buses would be deployed on the road from tomorrow onwards. He said that due to elections in Lahaul & Spiti district, it was expedited this year, though there is three to four feet thick snowfall.

The Met. office forecast mainly dry weather in the state during next 24 hours.
