High reaches of Himachal experinces snowfall again

High reaches of Himachal Pradesh experinced fresh spell of snowfall owing to western disturbances, which also increased coldwave in the state. Down streams were lashed with moderate to heavy rainfall.

Regional headquarter of Kinnaur, Kalpa had 6 cm fresh snowfall in last 24 hours and Keylong, headquarter of Lahaul & Spiti had 1 cm snowfall.

High reaches of both districts including Rohtnag Pass, Seven Sister’s hill, Goshal hills, Koksar of Lahaul valley, hill of Chitkul, Kinner, Shrikhand Kailash of Kinnaur district experienced light snowfall.

High speed wind storm along with thundershowers occurred in down stream followed by off seasonal rainfall at Kotkhai in Shimla district which received 36 mm rain, Rampur and Sunni Bhajji 30 mm rain each, Shimla 29 mm, Mashobra 27 mm,, Kumarsain 26 mm, Rohru 25 mm and Jubberhatti 20 mm.

Rainfall also occurred in Arki of Solan district, which received 27 mm rain, Tourist resort Manali 25 mm, Sangrah in Sirmaur district and Karsog in Mandi district 24 mm each, Kandaghat in Solan district 20 mm and Banjar in Kullu district 18 mm.

The Met. office forecast rain or thunder showers in the mid hills and foot hills and rain or snowfall at high reaches today. It also warned of thunder-squall or hailstorm likely to occur at isolated places over low or mid hills of the state.

Weather to be mainly dry in mid and high reaches but rain or snowfall likely to occur at part of high reaches in next 24 hours in the state.
