High reaches of Himachal Pradesh experienced snowfall and down-streams were lashed with rain showers, plunging down the temperature in the state substantially.
Gateway of Lahaul & Spiti, Rohtang Pass, Keylong, Lady of Keylong, Gaushal Hills, Seven sister’s hills, Baralacha, Dhauladhar ranges of Kangra district and Kinner and Shrikhand Kailash of Kinnaur district experienced snowfall.
Famous tourist resort Manali got 12 mm rainfall, Bhuntar 2 mm, Shimla town recorded 0.1 mm. Rain showers also lashed areas of Kalpa, Kangra and Solan.
Report arriving from Keylong said that election commission of India have to conduct special sorority of Chopper yesterday to bring election machinery in the tribal district as it is snowbound yet.
It was mainly dry till this afternoon today but town was reeling under extreme weather condition as minimum temperature was at minus 4 degrees, which was coldest in the state.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district was at 2.4 degrees, Manali 4 degrees, Solan, Dalhousie and Sundernagar at 8 degrees each, Bhuntar, Palampur and Una 9 degrees each. Chamba, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Mandi 10 degrees each and Dharamshala, Kangra and Nahan 12 degrees each.
Maximum temperature of Kalpa was 14 degrees, Manali 17 degrees, Shimla 18 degrees, Bhuntar 21 degrees, Dharamshala 22 degrees, Kangra 23 degrees, Sundernagar and Solan 24 degrees, Una 26 degrees and Nahan 27.5 degrees.
The Met office forecast rain or snowfall in some parts of high reaches in next 24 hours.
