Trouble for Virbhadra as Dhami joins BJP

Shimla: The Congress got a big jolt in Mandi constituency with former Congressman Dharamvir Dhami announcing his plans to join BJP on Friday. While the BJP in Mandi too is plagued by internal feuds as its candidate Maheshwar Singh faces trouble from his own brother, Congress is in more troubled waters considering the clout Dhami enjoys in Kullu district.

Considered a dedicated Congressmen not long ago, Dhami had quit the party when he was denied a ticket during the recent Vidhan Sabha polls, and had fought as BSP candidate, finishing a respectable third. Attending a press conference held by the Chief Minister in Shimla to announce his inclusion into the party, Dhami said the Congress leadership in the state had been making false promises.

Admitting that Virbhadra Singh had tried to bring back into the party fold people who had quit during the last Assembly polls, but nothing of the sort happened because the Congress was too divided a house.
