Tibetan protest over 55th uprising day

Tibetan in its various settlements in Shimla, Dharamshala and Riwalsar and other parts of the country today lodged protest over 55 uprising day of Tibet, shouting slogans against Chinese forceful occupation of their motherland.

About 50 Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) activists were carrying Tibet yellow flags and pamphlets and protested outside deputy commissioner office in Shimla this afternoon.

Protest was held on 55 national uprising day of Tibet and similar agitation were also held in other settlements of Tibetans in Himachal and country.

The press release issued during the agitation said that with this protest they paid respect to those heroes who sacrificed their life for freedom of their motherland.

On March 10, 1959 ten thousand of Tibetans gathered at Lhasa to protect Tibet freedom, culture and its religion from the forceful occupation of its motherland by Chinese army.

On this day, thousands of Tibetans were killed as they stood with the courage and conviction to proclaim that Tibetan Government and Tibetan Spiritual leader Dalai Lama are their sole protectors.

The ground reality of Chinese rule inside Tibet is that till now they had killed more than 1.2 million Tibetan people as hard line policies of occupant have resulted in 137 self immolation’s since 2009.

The protesters have sought the assistance of government international communities and individuals living in the free world to put concrete step to pressure Chinese government to support Tibetan people in its genuine struggle for free Tibet.
