Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board decided to replace all those electronic meters producing inflated bills, as these new meters recently substituted old electric meters in this capital town.

Executive engineer from electricity board Visheshar Sharma said today that board had already ordered to test those meters which are faulty as these meters would be replaced at the earliest.

He said that large number of complaints were pouring in about overstated power bills being received from the city dwellers daily. BJP has today lodged a protest outside MC board office at Shimla, meanwhile, BJP Municipal Corporation Councilor also raised this demand of ‘meter-testing’ in the house yesterday.

On the analogy of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, the elected representatives raised this demand showing their discontent over the super fast speed of the meters. They also laid claim that the meters produce inflated bills and are being installed without taking any prior approval from the customer.

Opposition parties were seeking immediate withdrawal of such meters as the alleged people are forced to pay heavy power bill as after installing new meters it had inflated their bill significantly. Since these meters have been installed, even though, the consumption of power units has remained very much same or even less.

In a BJP charge sheet submitted to state Governor Urmila Singh party had also blamed power minister Sujan Singh Pathania for awarding tenders to some party man to be given personal gains despite old meters were functioning without any dispute earlier.
