The opening day of the Himachal Pradesh legislative assembly started with the opposition BJP walking out of the assembly, boycotting the Governor’s customary address.
Speaking to the media persons the leader of the opposition P.K. Dhumal said that not even a word over corruption and law and order was mentioned by the Governor in her speech. Moreover, the Congress tried to take the credit of the projects inaugurated during the BJP regime.
He said that no action has been taken over the charge sheet against the Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh as BJP had demanded CBI probe over this matter while handing over the ‘charge sheet’ to the governor on completion of one year of Congress rule in the state recently.
Earlier, after more than one hour long speech as Governor was about to compete her address on very first day of budget session today some of BJP members rose on their seats alleging in the house that address was quite on the issue of law and order, corruption and its charge sheet. They alleged that Governor’s speech is laced with government development achievements only and is silent about the issues of corruption.
Intervening over the opposition dissent posture in the house, Chief Minister said that the matter could be raised by members during the motion of thanks to Governor’s address in depth and they should not disrupt the Governor’s speech.
Mrs. Urmila Singh continued the speech but entire opposition staged walkout lauding slogan against the government. As the Governor left the house, Chief Minister condemning the opposition disruption against the ethos of customary address.
Speaker Brij Behari Lal Butail also slammed the protest stating that it had convened all party meeting in the morning today in which BJP representatives assured to cooperate with the chair to smoothly run the session but it behaved against its assurance.
Mr. Dhumal who also addressed media persons outside the house that not a single line of address was mentioned about the charge sheet forcing them to stage walkout when Governor was about to complete her speech.
He said that government is not misleading the Governor but it is also misleading Congress high command about the issue of Vakamulla and Sahikot project. Upto last line there was no mention of charge sheet they boycotted the address and walkout from the house.
Most of speech contained the schemes which was inaugurated by the last BJP rule including developing of synthetic track at Hamirpur and AstroTurf at Hockey and Volleyball stadium at Una was inaugurated in 2011. He said that Governor’s address also mentioned about scraping of Apartment Act which was passed during his government.
