Four persons were wounded in a blast that occurred in open space near Armed official residence as some trash was being set on fire, while vacating the house this noon.
Police sources said that Lt. Col. Vikas Sharma (37), his two sons one of 4 years, other of 8 years and a jawan of armed staff were injured when a sudden explosion occurred in the trash fire at 1230 hours at Defense Staff residence near IGMC, Shimla.
The armed officer was about to depart from the premises after vacating it, as he had been transferred to Srinagar from here.
The teams of Military Police and State Forensics Science Laboratory from Junga were called to find out the exploded object, which could be cartridge, shell and other explosives, acquired by armed officers.
The injured were immediately rushed to IGMC hospital, where the condition of three was reported critical, but out of danger. Only wife of officer escaped unhurt, as she was inside the house when the blast occurred.
