Forest encroached; Vigilance & Anti-corruption sleuth slaps FIR in HP

State Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau (SV & ACB) booked some villagers including forest officers to encroach major chunk of forest land at Osan village of Bhuntar tehsil in Kullu district on Saturday.

Shimla SV & ACB DIG Arvind Sharma, in a press communique yesterday, said a forest land has been encroached for last 20 years by local resident of said village.

An FIR has been booked under section 447 of IPC, 30 and 32 of Indian Forest Act and section 30 of HPPSCP act for encroaching forest land, illicitly felling Deodar and Kail trees and developing orchard by planting different types of fruit plants.

The agency also booked the forest officer of Hurla beat range who had failed to report regarding encroachment and illicit felling of tree of department and for neither initiating any legal action against the encroacher.
