Major tourist resorts snowing heavily in HP

Major tourists resorts of Himachal Pradesh were snowing heavily as Shimla, Kufri, Narkanda and Kalpa in Kinnuar district had recorded fresh heavy spells of snow late this evening which continues till now.

Tourists resort Narkanda got about 15 cm fresh snowfall while Kufri and Kalpa had 10 cm each. Shimla experienced heavy rainfall followed by snow which was recorded at about 7 cm and 4 mm of rain.

Keylong, headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti experienced 1 cm snowfall in last 24 hours. Reports of snowfall on high reaches are coming as Seven Sisters hills, Lady of Keylong, Goshal hill, Rohtang Pass experienced light to moderate snowfall.

Earlier in the day all major tourist resorts like Dalhousie, Kufri, Manali and Narkanda had intermittent snowfall. The fresh snowfall is likely to affect vehicular traffic which was running smoothly in the state during the day. Moreover, inclement weather, cold and snowfall conditions had already affected normal life worstly.

Maximum temperature also plunged in the day today as Shimla was high at 8.5 degrees. Day temperature dipped under sub zero at Kalpa today as it was 0.4 degrees.

Una and Kangra had 32 mm and 17 mm rainfall and recorded a temperature of 14 degrees and 13 degrees respectively.

Manali reported snowfall on high reaches but it had 3 mm rain in the main town and recorded a high temperature of 7.6 degrees.

Maximum temperature of Dharamshala (12 mm rain), Sundernagar and Solan (4 mm rain each) was recorded at 12 degrees each, Bhuntar 13 degrees and Nahan 14 degrees respectively.

In last 24 hours Nurpur in Kangra district had 6 mm rainfall, Kheri and Dalhousie 4 mm each and Saluni 3 mm.

Minimum temperature has risen slightly in the state as Bharmour in Chamba district was recorded the coldest at minus 7 degrees, Keylong minus 2.7 degrees, Kalpa minus 1.8 degrees and Dalhousie 0.9 degrees, respectively.

Manali in Kullu and Solan have recorded 3.5 degrees each. Shimla and Sundernagar 4 degrees, Bhuntar and Bilaspur 5 degrees each, Dharamshala and Hamirpur 6 degrees each, Nahan 7 degrees, Chamba and Palampur 8 degrees each and Kangra recorded 9 degrees.

The Met. office forecasts rain or snow in some parts of state in next 24 hours and also warned of heavy snowfall at isolated places.
