People living in high line areas of this hill state are facing weather vagaries as road, water, power and supply of essential food items are affected badly. Some parts of the state are also torn apart from rest of the world. They also require emergency helicopter services as patients and employees are stranding.
National highway No.-22 continues to be snowbound between Dhalli to Narkanda following heavy snowfall of yesterday. Meanwhile, it disrupted most of the road links with most parts of Shimla district as it is snowbound at various tourist resorts like Kufri, Narkanda, Dodrakawar, Jubbal, Kotkhai and Rohru.
The police sources said that vehicular traffic has been diverted via Basantpur as it is snowbound between Dhalli to Kufri and Kufri to Narkanda. Meanwhile, state highway between Theog to Jubbal, Kotkhai and Jubbal is disrupted at Kharapathar.
Dodrakawar reported 45 cm (one and half feet) snowfall and is also cut off from rest of the world. The bus services have been sent via Tuni of Uttarakhand upto Bhadarwar. About 14000 feet high Chanshal Pass links Dodrakawar with Rohru of this district and reported four to five feet snowfall.
Report arriving from Dodrakawar said that entire backward area is plunged into darkness and there is no supply of water after logging of water pipes as temperature was keeping several degrees under zero.
Many internal roads of Shimla town is snowbound as labour were deployed to clear the snow still on the road at shady places. The water supply to some parts of the town is affected due to logging of water pipes. Most of the snow is thawing fast in Shimla but heaps of snows are there in few areas.
It is also partly affecting the vehicular traffic as road was slippery due to snowbound roads and freezing of snow water in the area.
In tribal districts, helicopter flights were suspended yesterday due to inclement weather. Two patients required emergency exist by chopper at Koksar who were reported critical. “Two women require emergency exit from Koksar who were suffering with disease which requires expert service as all the roads to Lahaul valley is already snowbound after closing of Rohtang Pass, they could not rescued from last three days,” member of tribal advisory board Nomang Bodh told . The weather vagaries of alarming proportion in the tribal people living in Keylong, Kaza, Sangala and Chitkul but most of these towns yet to have good spell of snowfall
The administration could relief the people as there was sunshine today but due to Sunday there is holiday in the state and the progress of opening the road is also slow.
