1315 buses to be added in HRTC fleet shortly

Himachal Pradesh government has decided to add additional fleet of 1315 buses in Himachal Road Transport Corporation so that it could increase the ferry of buses on the road.

On the above statement made by state in the Division bench of HP high court comprising of acting Mr. Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Mr. Justice Kuldip Singh the court disposed of a public interest litigation today.

The court verdict said that in the light of the compliance report it is proper to dispose of this petition, which was treated as a PIL on a letter submitted by the president of H.P. handicapped welfare association of Solan district, Mr. Jitendra Bhardwaj.

Assuring to comply the petitioners plea state had submitted in the court that it was taking steps to provide better transport facilities to the citizens of this hill state.

Regional Manager of H.R.T.C had stated in an affidavit before the court that Corporation has issued purchase orders after completion of all codal formalities for the purchase of M/s Tata Motor Ltd. who has built 300 buses which are 47 seater, 200 buses 37 seater and 15 buses of 30 seater.

Transport already got the supply of 30 buses which are being plied in the different parts of the state as per requirement. So far as rest of 500 buses are concerned, same likely to be added in its fleet.

In addition to this, the Ministry of Urban Development, to the Government of India has sanctioned 800 buses fully built up under JNNURM scheme for 13 clusters in Himachal.

HRTC admitted in the court that as these buses are supplied, same will be plied by the corporation on busy routes as per requirement, so that, the problem of heavy rush is adhered.

On the contention of HRTC or state court disposed of the PIL today.
