High reaches of HP experienced snowfall


High reaches of Chamba and Lahaul and Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh experienced mild to light snowfall in last 24 hours as it was partly cloudy in the state today.

The Shimla Meteorological Center Director, Mr. Manmohan Singh said that as it was mainly cloudy in the state today, snowfall was experienced on the high peaks of Chamba and Lahaul and Spiti district.

Report arriving from both districts said that Manimahesh, Baralacha in Chamba and Seven sisters’s hill, Lady of Keylong and Goshal hills in Lahaul and Spiti district experienced light snowfall in last 24 hours.

However, Rohtang Pass was still open for vehicular traffic as no reports of snowfall came from there.

The Western Disturbances responsible for fresh snowfall on the peaks also give some reparative from continue cold wave as mercury rose by 1 to 2 degrees in last 24 hours.

Keylong was coldest at minus 3 degrees Celsius, Manali 1.8 degrees, Kalpa in Kinnaur district, Solan and Sundernagar in Mandi district 2 degrees each, Bhuntar in Kullu district and Hamirpur 3 degrees each, Una and Bilaspur 5 degrees, Chamba 6 degrees, Kangra, Dharamshala, Palampur, Nahan in Sirmaur district and Dalhousie 7 degrees each.

Shimla was low at 9.9 degrees which was a raise by 4 degrees in last 24 hours.

The Met center also forecast rain or snow at isolated places in the high reaches of Himachal Pradesh and mainly dry weather in rest of state in next 24 hours.
