Moderate earthquake jolted North West India

The moderate intensity earthquake rocked north-western India including, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand this evening, Meteorological confirmed today.

Shimla Met. Office Director, Manmohan Singh told that earthquake was felt in Himachal Pradesh along with areas adjoining Punjab like Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur at 2023 hours this evening.

He said that earthquake lasted for three to four seconds and was measured of about 4.9 on Richter scale. The epicenter of earthquake was localized at Latitude of 31.4 degrees North and Longitude at 76.1 degrees East and depth 10 km down in the earth near Hoshiarpur areas of Punjab.

It was felt in Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Hamirpur, Una and Bilaspur but there is no immediate loss of property and life so far.
