  1. This is most unfortunate and those involved should be treated as 1st degree murderers and made an example.. College should be closed down…

    poor kid..

  2. a suggestion for institutes…there should be ani ragging sqads from amongst the toughest students in college and they should be sresponsble for the protection of new students

  3. Government must chalk out stratergies to stop all this. Ragging is getting very common in the institutions of the state. Student Orgnisations must also raise the issue before the government and institution authorities.

  4. In medical profession, fear of ragging has made senior-junior relations as horrifying. Even heads and professors have gone through this process in the past, so they see it as a usual course.

Commanding this type of respect is a complete barbarianism. If we want to be called as civilians, such instances must be stopped here. If anyone has even slight justification for it, he should live in jungle. Entry of Munnabhais as traced in the past may be the supplementing reason for a such cruelty.

  5. Ragging should be declared strictly prohibited in educational institutions in Himachal.

  6. This is in context to what some people said, it is not so that there are all MUNNABHAIS in this profession and no one has given you the right to blame all the hardworking & deserving students of this profession "so don't be the judge".

I being a student of this profession am well aware what kind of atmosphere is there when a student prepares for the PMTs and after clearing the entrance exam comes in the first year. This so called "ragging" is a part of college life and depends on student to student how they take it and react to it. I was my self on the receiving end and hence know what kind of atmosphere used to be there when we use to see our seniors but never took it in a way of revenge and hatred towards our seniors(as commented by some people) although this act is intolerable but it should be kept in our minds that what has been lost cannot be recovered and the career of the young professional students who have reached in this field after competing and struggling, their hard work should not be neglected and of course they should be given a chance to improve and in the meanwhile government and the concerned authorities should take appropriate measures so that whenever such complaints are made by the students they are redressed on time which "sadly" is never done. Hence people should keep in mind while commenting on the whole community and not become the judge.

  7. “This so called “ragging” is a part of college life and depends on student to student how they take it and react to it”.

Only this type of attitude has claimed the life of Aman Kachru. Do these so called scholars have obtained the license to hooliganism after clearing PMT ?

As far as the reference of Munnabhais is concerned, I want to clarify that no one ever generalizes the things for entire community. My reference “Entry of Munnabhais as traced in the past…” is in context of reality that would have gone unnoticed, had some dynamic parents did not raise their voice. Even CM and VC had termed this act of protesters as a clear case of failure frustration. As per newspaper reports, it is from our IGMC only, from where the impersonators had recently been arrested by Punjab Police.

Oh! I forgot to mention one important sentence said frequently in our self praise, “We live in Devbhoomi” (honesty, peace loving nature automatically self implied). Even doctors know about the attitude and honest working of these Himachali people in public offices of their importance.

  8. “Entry of Munnabhais as traced in the past…” is in context of reality that would have gone unnoticed, had some dynamic parents did not raise their voice.

The journey you have been talking about was the one of which I was a part of and was the one who had to take initial criticism(when no one before the exam heard) and had seen the attitude of the government and the officials (after the result) had it not been the faith in the judiciary and the efforts of the dynamic police team it would have never been possible to bring the culprits to the book and this statement "Even CM and VC had termed this act of protesters as a clear case of failure frustration" was the one we had to listen to, in reply to one of our statements and this so called act of frustration was proved and hence people while commenting should be aware that what they are commenting and to whom they are commenting.

Yes, we live in the land of devtas hence "devbhoomi" and have had faith in the almighty so we all must be together instead of blaming any particular community and giving past references, at this point of time we need to work in same direction so that such incidents do not occur in future.

  9. "hence people while commenting should be aware that what they are commenting and to whom they are commenting".

Sorry for that boss. We should think twice now, before posting comments on blogs. I still have great fear of medicos (please do not generalize it for all). They used to walk in cavalcades for settling scores to ordinary tussles. All Shimlaites know that.

  10. <div align=justify>There is rampant dadagiri of seniors in medical colleges in the state. How juniors are treated in IGMC is evident for a lay man, what to speak of what would have been happening in hostels. Our friends who made it to the IGMC have been full of horror stories at the hostel. Ragging in any form is not acceptable at all and what ever justifications are being given are absurd. Probably this incident shows the overall attitude of the medical students and how 'immune' they become after leaving the medical college and serve as some of the heartless and offending docs later.

There can be no justification for any form of ragging. Students who are found guilty in this case need to be hanged by law to set an example for future.

The following comment shows the pathetic state of affairs and the rot in system. Try telling this logic to Aman's parents who lost their son to these 'educated' barbarians:

..but it should be kept in our minds that what has been lost cannot be recovered and the career of the young professional students who have reached in this field after competing and struggling, their hard work should not be neglected and of course they should be given a chance to improve..</div align=justify>

  11. It is easy to blame but difficult to stand up for a cause and fight for it………..

Instead of blaming the profession if would be better for all of us to get united and bring people together so that this evil can be uprooted. I have taken this initiative and want people to come together so that in future more Amans can be saved but i wish people not to blame the other professional students as exceptions are always there and yes it should not be the case where others have to pay for someone else's fault.

  12. What took you so long to take the initiative my friend??????????????????

Why did Aman had to die in the first place!!!!!!!!

  13. "When I failed, I cried. System had rotten.

When got the chance to get in

I loved the same old rotten system

I reached comfortable zone and shut my eyes"

This is true in most cases. Seniors automatically forget past events when they survive and turn to the following attitude:

“This so called “ragging” is a part of college life and depends on student to student how they take it and react to it”.

In crisis like this, rhetoric is rampant everywhere. "stand up for a cause and fight for it", these are political speeches with less maturity level. We are good in discussions but need concrete road map to stop such evils.

We need to improve governance first. On what criteria, we are electing our representatives? Why students hesitate to report it to police? Are seniors/teachers given too much power to play with careers? How can influence manage to escape the law? Does policing means VIP security and looking after their movement only?

And above all how many times we all introspect daily to behave honestly and in a civilized manner?

If we try to understand all these questions, we will definitely be able to correct the system gradually.

It is a irreparable loss the family. Powerful media that keeps alive all these discussions for a few days cannot sustain it for long, as other issues come to the fore. I remember a tragic road accident that claimed many lives a few months back near Shimla. Our transport minister himself took out the music systems from buses for few days. Now all buses are back with big band and flouting all safety norms. Routine policing is no priority, until similar incidents happen again.

All people especially feeding of public coffers have to make necessary introspection several times daily to justify their duty with respect to salary, and responsibility. If not, laws should be draconian having no escape for any law breaker as prevalent in all developed countries.

Only these two measures can take us to civilization, otherwise, self praise is the only option we have to satisfy ourselves.
