Mining raid : 13 vehicles impounded after slapping fine of Rs. 1.95 lakhs

The repent mine mafia active behind the nose of the administration in Una district, raided by the concerned officers during the night hours on Saturday and Sunday, and impounded 13 vehicles loaded with sand and gravel along Sawna River at Santokhgarh, Haroli and Tahliwal bordering area of Himachal-Punjab.

Deputy Superintendent of Una, Mr. Surinder Sharma told that 13 vehicles were impounded after slapping fine money Rs. 1.95 lakhs. The vehicles confiscated by the police raid include five tippers, two trucks and six tractors.

In similar move by the district police, 152 vehicles have been impounded recovering fine money of Rs. 7.5 lakhs in a special drive from August 13 to 31, 2013. Before this police had also impounded two dozen vehicles and tractors.

The zero tolerance have been adopted against the elicited mining in the state but this trade is continued during the night and off hours in the state.

S.P. Una Anupam Sharma said that strong action would be taken against the people found guilty in the mining. Moreover, the administration has asked the officers to charge heavy fine from such people.
