HP added more pulses in PDS kitty


Himachal Pradesh State Civil Supplies (HPSCS) Corporation has floated global tenders to purchase pulses to further sell it across 31,804 ration card holders registered with Public Distribution System in the state after adding couple of new pulses in the PDS kitty.

Managing Director of HPSCS, Amandeep Garg said in a notification released for global tenders here yesterday that the corporation will purchase Red Lentil (Malka), Black/whole lentil (Black Masar), Green Gram (Moong whole), Kidney Beans (Rajmah Red Small), Black Matpe (Urad Sabut unpolished), Dal Gram (Dal Chana), Black eyed beans/Lobia (Rongi) and Dal Masari (Red Lentil split). The corporation wants the stock in one kilogram plastic pack. Besides this, the corporation has floated tender to procure one kilogram of ISI mark one kilogram idolized salt (free flow) and edible oil of soya refined and mustard in one liter pouch pack.

Food, Civil Supply and Consumer affairs minister, G.S. Bali disclosed that number of new pulses items have been included in the PDS kitty after he took charge of department with forming of new government.

Stating this in the state assembly recently, he said that the government is running the system smoothly and tenders were being floated to compensate the demands. The corporation distributes these items every month to all ration card holders in the state under targeted public distribution system (PDS) properly.

Further he said that tenders were invited for the purchase of sugar to cater the demand. Corporation has recently floated similar tenders to purchase 47,000 quintal sugar which has been awarded to some firm at the rate of Rs. 35 per kilogram as it provides 612 gram of sugar quota per person.

Till now 22,000 quintals of sugar has been distributed to the state depots as due to delay in tenders, number of people have been deprived from the sugar in recent months are being compensated.

The state depends for the food items on the bordering states as it had very limited agriculture production to meet out its own needs in the state.
