Medicos hailed the decision for ragging convicts to complete their education

Members of Himachal Pradesh Medical Officer Association (HPMOA) hailed the decision of state government to allow four students of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College Tanda, who were convicted of ragging Aman Kachroo, a first year medical student, to complete their medical education.

President of HPMOA Dr. Sant Lal Sharma and General Secretary Dr. Jivanand Chauhan said in a press statement e-mailed to media here today that the step is welcomed by the association.

It said that education is the right of every person and as per the Supreme Court verdict, even the people who were given life sentence were allowed to complete their education.

The four students had completed their punishment of four year imprisonment. Now they have the right to live like a normal citizen. Members of the association express their views that the society must give them a chance for rehabilitation to save them from frustration.

Members of the association had also cleared their views that they are against the ragging in colleges and support the anti-ragging campaign. Members of the association again thank the Honorable chief Minister, for allowing the four students to complete their MBBS. This is a highly appreciable step taken by the Government.
