Seven districts of HP under 2nd phase of DBT-L

Seven districts of Himachal Pradesh have been included under second phase of Direct Benefit Transfer-LPG (DBT-L), to be launched from September 1, 2013.

Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora, Deputy Director General (DDG), UIDAI, RO-Chandigarh, yesterday held a meeting with concerned Deputy Commissioners, senior officials from oil marketing companies, bank officials, LPG dealers and other concerned stakeholders and officials from the state .

It is pertinent to mention that the Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG in the second phase has been extended to 35 more districts. Of these, seven districts are from Himachal viz Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul and Spiti, Kangra , Shimla, Sirmaur and Solan .

In the first phase, DBT-L was launched in 20 districts across the country. Of the 20 districts, four districts were from Himachal viz, Mandi, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Una.

Till date, the number of transactions using Aadhaar for DBT-L transactions in the four districts of Himachal stands at 82,609 with a total amount paid to the tune of Rs. 3.45 crores.

The DDG exhorted the district administration officials to sensitize LPG consumers in the state to give their Aadhaar number to the LPG distributor, as well as the banks.

Mrs. Arora directed the banks to undertake measures to link Aadhaar number of LPG consumers with their bank accounts. She also directed the LPG agency distributors to sensitize the LPG consumers to link their Aadhaar number with their LPG consumer number.

Under DBT-L scheme, LPG consumer will get his/her cylinder at full market price and the differential between subsidized price and market price will be transferred to his/her Aadhaar linked bank account.

Mrs. Arora told LPG distributors to ensure that the LPG consumers who have already made their Aadhaar cards, should be told to give their Aadhaar number to their LPG distributor as well as to the banks to avail the subsidy.
