20 lambs killed by leopard in remote area of Shimla district

As many as 20 lambs were killed by a leopard in a deep forest between Deorighat and Tikkar areas in broad day light on April 15, when shepherds were in jungle to graze their sheep and goats, police official said.

The victims Vikram Singh from Silghat area of Rohru subdivision of Shimla district, Prakash Chand, Bharat Singh and Prem Lal of Janglik village lodged their complaint before SDM Rohru today.

They allege that they were grazing their livestock in the jungle but in absence of them about 20 lambs and goats kept in their camp were killed by a leopard causing heavy toll of animal life for them.

The SDM has handed over the matter to concerned forest beat officers to look into it and provide ample compensations to the affected persons after visiting the spot.
