Himachal Pradesh Assembly today adjourned sine die after 18 days of budget session. This was the second session of the present Vidhan Sabha.
The budget session, which commenced on March 12 , presented and passed state budget for year 2013-14 and supplementary budget for year 2012-13. Besides this 23 bills were presented in the house and 19 were passed.
As many as 448 starred and 251 un-starred questions were taken in the assembly during the session.
During the session, 27 reports were laid by the various committees and ministers in the House, Speaker B.B.L. Butail said.
About 18 amendment bills to increase the land use change limit of each private university from 25 years to 50 years were also passed during the session.
BJP also lodged five to six walk outs from the assembly over different issues during this session. At the time of house adjourned opposition members did not turn in the house and it was declared sine die by the speaker.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh who brought the four bills to enhance the salaries, allowance and pension of Ministers, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Chief Parliamentary and Parliamentary Secretaries and members in the concluding day were withdrawn on last minute as opposition staged walk out over the passing of HP Cooperative society bills without making consensus in the assembly over this issue.
Mr. Singh stated in the floor of house that he withdrew all salary bills at the last moment as oppositions staged walk out over another issue, however, the salary bills had brought in the house after consulting the opposition and making consensus.
Chief Minister thanked the leader of opposition and members of oppositon and treasury benches, including Vidhan Sabha staff and media for helping the assembly proceedings to proceed in smooth manner.
