International Shivratri Fair concludes

Week long Mandi Shivratri fair concludes at Padal ground, the state’s Governor Mrs. Urmila Singh was the chief guest in the closing ceremony of the event.

Mrs. Singh while addressing the concluding ceremony said that fairs and festivals of Himachal Pradesh are unique in their own way and are means for celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the state.

She said that rich colors of tradition witnessed during these festivals should be preserved for posterity as they affirm our identity as a great state and nation. Mrs. Singh added, that culture and its heritage reflect and shape values, beliefs, and aspirations besides defining our national identity.

She said that we should be aware of our culture and traditions and added that it is our responsibility to keep them alive for our coming generations, so that they can take pride of their glorious past and have the same opportunities to learn about their own roots as we have.

Governor lauded the ‘Dev-Milan’ tradition which was a unique feature of the fair and added that it is found only in Himachal Pradesh. This reflects the profound faith of the people in the deities they worship, she added. She also said that young people should participate in these events actively so that they can carry forward these traditions in future.
